Travel by train from Europe to India?

Hey i’m wondering if that’s doable at all, how long it’d take and how much it’d cost to go by train from central europe to India or the middle east? Also, are there any websites online that can book train tickets just like air tickets? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

that would be an awsome trip to take!!!!! you would see sooo much and im sure a lot of beautiful things. that most only train passengers see!!!!! this might help!!!! http://www.seat61.com/India.htm

Any companies, tickets that you know about?
Also does anybody know about Rail Europe. If I buy a pass is that it? Or are there any other tickets/fees I got to pay?

THANK YOU.

The cheapest is the Eurolines bus. Buses are usually much cheaper than trains.

The airlines Ryanair, Easyjet, and Air Berlin often have very cheap fares.

Euro Rail pass! I need help!!?

Alright, I’ll be traveling to Germany and France for about one month. I don’t know what kinds of rail pass to get, for example, traveling 4 days in 1 month!?!?! Or what about the 21 day month pass! I’m confused. Help me. Any advice would be helpful

I know it can be tricky, but it will all come down to what type of travelling you will be doing.

First off, take a look at the two-country France/Germany pass. It will cover all of your train travel within the two countries. I have included a link to the rail europe website for this pass in the sources below.

Second, do you have an itinerary of what you will be doing? This is what will let you know what kind of pass you need. You will not be requiring any travel days while you are spending time within a city. For example, if you are spending four days in Paris then it is no use to have a rail pass for those four days as you will not be going anywhere. If you are in the early planning stages and do not yet know what your itinerary is, I would recommend that you first work that out and then take a look to see which pass would work best for you.

Remember that if a rail pass gives you something like the 4 days in two months that is available, that means that from the day that your pass is validated at a European train station, you have 60 days to use up all of the travel days on the pass. If you have the 4-day pass, you can choose any four days to have unlimited train travel in France/Germany and the days do not need to be consecutive.

A previous poster mentioned that you need to pay additional fees to make reservations on trains. This is true, but reservations in France/Germany are only required on night trains, and TGV trains (high-speed French trains). Night trains can let you have a bunk so you can sleep while you travel. The TGV reservation fee is three euros per trip. None of the other trains are really necessary to have a reservation, but you can book one in advance if you wish.

we are starting in rome then going to florence, then venice, then paris, then ireland, then london…we were going to buy a eurail pass, will this work for all these places? and what pass should we buy? are there eurail boats or something over to ireland or london? 1st timers so just a little confused.HELP PLEASE :]

IF you’re going only to Italy, France, and Ireland, I recommend the Eurail Select-Saver pass, choosing Ireland, France, and Italy. You said we, so the saver pass is cheaper. You have to travel 2 or more together, though. If you’re under 26, look at the youthpasses. If you’re crossing switzerland, get a 4 country pass. If you’re going through more than 5 countries, maybe the Eurail global pass is better.

Eurail Passes aren’t valid in Britain, so you’ll have to pay extra for that part. For The ferries between France and Ireland, and between Ireland and UK, you gt a 30% discount with the Eurail pass. It might be cheaper to fly from Ireland to England on http://www.ryanair.com
